Katharine Walter Payne
Katharine Walter Payne is a Florida Bar Board Certified Specialist in Wills, Trusts and Estates and focuses her practice on estate planning, probate, trust administration and federal taxation issues. She is a shareholder of Mizell, Mays & Payne, P.A. Katharine graduated from the Honors’ Program at Fairmont State College (Fairmont, West Virginia) summa cum laude in 2000 and from Florida State University College of Law cum laude in 2004. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Taxation Law (LL.M.) from the University of Florida. Katharine is licensed in both Florida and West Virginia.
Katharine was appointed by the Florida Bar President to serve on the current Florida Bar Probate Rules Committee and is a Graduate of the Florida Bar Wm. Reece Smith, Jr. Leadership Academy. She is a member of the Charlotte County Bar Association, the Charlotte County Estate Planning Council, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar and is a co-founder and immediate past Chair of the Real Property, Probate Trust Law Division of the Charlotte County Bar Association. Katharine also serves on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, Port Charlotte Corps.
Katharine was born in Monterey, California, and spent most of her life in southern West Virginia before making Florida her home. She is a past Director of the Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce, past Director of the Charlotte County YMCA, served on the Charlotte County YMCA Endowment Committee, and is a Graduate of the Charlotte County Chamber Leadership Charlotte Class of 2006. Katharine and her husband, Mark, live in Port Charlotte, Florida, and attend church at Grace Community Bible Church in Venice.
