
John B. Mizell has been a resident of Charlotte County since being admitted to the Florida Bar in 1986. He is a Florida native, born in Gainesville, Florida. Currently he is the founder and sole shareholder of the Mizell Law Firm, P.A. which was established in 2005.
John focuses his practice primarily in the areas of estate planning and estate administration. However, both he and the Firm also provide representation in the purchasing, establishing or selling closely-held business entities and real estate closings. He is the recipient of Martindale-Hubbell’s prestigious “Av Preeminent” Rating, indicating that peers rank him at preeminent levels of professionalism and ethical standards. John has been Florida Bar Board Certified in Wills, Trusts and Estates since 1995. John attended Stetson University where he obtained both a B.B.A. degree in Finance as well as his Juris Doctorate Degree. He also has his Master’s Degree in Taxation Law (LL.M.) from the University of Florida.
John is a Past President of the Punta Gorda Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He is a Past President of the Charlotte County Bar Association and has served as Chairman of the local Lawyer Grievance Committee. He is a member of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Charlotte County Bar Association and the Charlotte County Estate & Tax Planning Council. John now proudly serves and assists several local charities including his Church. He lives in the Historical District of Punta Gorda with his wife, Marilyn, and their children, Ben and Mallory.
